Alasdair stars in podcast

When Visit East Lothian asked me to take part in a podcast series promoting the county I was delighted to accept its invitation.

The theme of the podcast was Hidden Gems of East Lothian and being a local resident I am well qualified to reveal some of them.

Among the hidden jewels I talked about was Seacliff Beach which was featured in the films Mary Queen of Scots and Outlaw King, the ‘footbridge to enchantment’ at Aberlady nature reserve, St Mary’s Pleasance Gardens in Haddington, the 17th century Cockenzie House, Dunbar Harbour and the Coastal Communities museum in North Berwick.

This year I am hoping to take more guests on tours of East Lothian which really is a hidden jewel just a few miles outside Edinburgh. As well as its fabulous beaches it boasts a number of historic castles in dramatic locations including Tantallon Castle perched on a cliff overlooking the North Sae and Dirleton Castle which overlooks a pretty village green.

It is a paradise for golf lovers and indeed is dubbed the ‘Golf coast.’ The famous Open is regularly played at Muirfield just outside Gullane.
