Three months of wonderful weather on Scotland’s east coast
A lot of people think of Scotland as a wet, windy and misty country. Well think again.

Yellowcraigs beach looking toward the island of Fidra
Over the last ten weeks we have had almost wall to wall sunshine and where I live in East Lothian, just a few miles east of Edinburgh, my wife and I have had some wonderful walks on our local beaches as you can see in the photograph.
It is taken at Yellowcraigs beach and in the distance you can see the island of Fidra which is said to be the model for Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous Treasure Island.
According to the authority on weather, the Met Office, it was the sunniest April on record for the UK.
All UK countries made it in the top five sunniest since records in a series from 1929. England, Scotland and Northern Ireland had their sunniest April, beating the previous record set in 2015 for England and Northern Ireland, and 1942 for Scotland. May was also spectacularly sunny and eastern Scotland recorded its driest spring since record began in 1862.
The big frustration of course is that we did not have any overseas visitors to enjoy it but hopefully we will see them back again in 2021 and we will pray that the weather will play its part. I am taking bookings for next year and would be delighted to hear from you.
