Outlander filming in Scotland

The second series of Outlander has been filmed in Scotland again and one of the locations is on my doorstep at the 18th century mansion, Gosford House.

Gosford HouseThe house which was originally designed by one of Scotland’s greatest architects, Robert Adam, is only open to the public on certain days of the year but well worth visiting. It has an impressive collection of paintings and also a stunning marble staircase. It is owned by the 13th Earl of Wemyss and March. His ancestor David Wemyss, Lord Elcho and Methil rode alongside Bonnie Prince Charlie when he entered Edinburgh in 1745. After the Battle of Culloden when the Bonnie Prince refused to wage a guerilla war Elcho famously said: “There you go, you damned Italian coward”.
