Virtual tour: In the footsteps of Scotland’s saints

I would be delighted if you could join me on a virtual tour I have put together following in the footsteps of saints in Scotland.

Believe it or not some 750 saints are commemorated in 13,000 place names in Scotland!

The story of Scotland’s saints is a fascinating one with St Andrew, in particular, helping to put Scotland on the world map.

But there are many others such as St Columba who, in the sixth century,  set up a monastery on the beautiful island of Iona which is once again a major centre of pilgrimage.

He was the first person in recorded history to encounter the Loch Ness monster.

Alasdair has been digging down into the history of Scottish saints and will show you some lovely locations on the mainland and on a number of islands and tell you some extraordinary tales.

These mysterious saints helped to transform Scotland at a critical time in its history and their influence went well beyond Scotland’s shores.

Tickets for the virtual tours at 7.30pm on March 15 and April 8 are just £5.98 each.

You can book for March 15  at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/following-in-the-footsteps-of-scottish-saints-tickets-143283878939.

Alasdair has just written his first book which tells the story of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association from 1959 to 2019.

Alasdair prepared for guiding after the Lockdown

When Scotland reopens to tourists and to provide some re-assurance to guests I have taken part in the Good to Go scheme and received a certificate which shows I am properly prepared for taking them on tours.
